Maryland’s transportation system must prioritize transit, biking, micromobility, and pedestrian safety while remaining fiscally responsible. As fuel taxes decline, the state must diversify Transportation Trust Fund revenues in fair, sustainable ways that allow increased investment in public transit with a progressive funding plan. Baltimore needs someone in Annapolis to prioritize the construction of the Red Line, because it will connect communities, expand access to jobs, reduce congestion, and improve equity and air quality. Near term priorities include late night MARC service between Baltimore and D.C., more reliable bus service for students, a fully connected bike lane network, and aggressive support for transit oriented development. By acting decisively now and planning boldly for the future, Maryland can build a safer, more equitable, and modern transportation system.
