Meet Dianté Edwards

As a veteran of the United States Navy, I know what it means to serve. My service to our nation taught me the importance of showing up for our people and instilled in me the values of honor, courage, and commitment. Before joining the Navy, I was raised by my grandmother to understand the values of community, compassion, and caring. These are the principles by which I will serve District 40 in the General Assembly.

While leading Pigtown’s neighborhood association, I learned what it takes to advocate for the needs of the people who need it most. I built coalitions and helped to secure more than $3 million in investments in the neighborhood, including the renovation and re-opening of the Carroll Park Community Center that had been abandoned for over 20 years. I know what it looks like to create safety and a sense of fellowship within a community. I know what servant leadership is.

I believe in elevating the power of community to create a better Baltimore. As a proven community advocate, I know that West Baltimore deserves a strong representative in Annapolis who will fight for the needs of our neighbors.

I am running a grassroots, bottom-up campaign because our current system is not working for us. We can no longer afford to tolerate complacency and fear of change in Annapolis. It is time to elect a Delegate that will show up consistently, every day of every year, and not just when it’s time to campaign.

I am of the community, for the community, and will serve the community. I cannot be bought by special interests and large corporations. From Pigtown to Penn-North, Ashburton to Poppleton, and Morrell Park to Hampden, I commit that I will always stand up for all of West Baltimore.
